SEI hooded gas lock sight?

These things look pretty cool but I cant quite figure out the advantages of them. i also dont understand why it would be a good idea to shorten the sight radius so much. does anyone that has one notice much a difference in sight radius and accuracy at longer distances?

I have them on a few of my M25 rifles that are scoped. I use them as a back up only. Don't think they would be very good for distance though.

The SEI combination gas cylinder lock front sight makes it easy to install a sound suppressor on the M14. I agree, the shorter sight radius with a GLFS installed is best utilized as a back up sight with the rifle scoped. All NFA Rules apply.

Thanks from nf1e@snet.net and boomer1983
