Question Mag Re-due

I had some extra time on my hands so I thought I would re-due my 20 round M1A magazines. The are currently parkerized. I have not done this before so I thought I would get some feedback. My plan was to:
1. disassemble
2. clean with degreaser
3. scuff with scotch bright and/or 220 grit paper
4. paint base plate and magazine but not the follower
5. reassemble

I wanted to use a rattle can paint and the color would match the camo in my stock. What brand and type of paint is recommended and should I use a flat clear coat for added protection against wear and tear. I know I could duracoat or ceracoat but that is a little more that I wanted to spend right now.Any other advice would be helpful.

Thanks

What kind of paint is on your rifle? Who did it? You could use Krylon, they have some good colors to camo stocks and parts. I'd replace the springs with Wolff springs while they're apart too. Flat or semi gloss clear depending on what you may like.

I have mil spec dark gray metal and a Mcmillian dessert camo stock. I was going to use Krylon camo flat rattle can paint. Thanks I did not think about replacing the springs.

No problem, bro. Glad to help give you some ideas.
You can try the mil spec gray and if you don't like it, you could strip 'em and try to do the same desert pattern as your stock. How good of shape is the finish on your stock? Worn enough to do it over? I bought a USGI fiberglass stock at the gun show a couple months ago with the express purpose of trying to camo a stock. I want to do a desert tiger stripe to start with.
