Vltor uses discarded USGI fiberglass stocks for their forends. They cut them and attach their rear-end adapter. Used to be if you wanted a rail you'd have to order it from sprinfield as a 'cluster rail', but no longer. You can order direct from vltor.

Seeing how they are USGI fiberglass, I would personnally fire a few "seater" rounds to settle the action back into the stock before attempting to get good groups...

the green stock is a vltor.

trying to decide what paint job i want to do on it.

was initially thinking of selling it, but no real reason to.

Negative. Just got a QD mount to fix that problem.

My only gripe about the stock is that I HATE the butt-stock on ANY rifle other than an AR.

A Friend's Socom 16 in a VLTOR stock

My best friend's M14. I love his set up. I struggled with spending the big bucks on doing a true battle rifle like his but ended up building an EBR 22" instead. He said the VLTOR stock makes all the difference in the world for accuracy. I look forward to shooting with him next month when I drive out for a visit.

I took off the the red dot attached to the ARMS mount and it still seemed fairly zeroed at 25yds. Was still hitting a 6inch target free standing. I'll try a bench test next time and see what happens. I haven't removed the upper rail when cleaning though.
