What's the text on the poster with the German soldier with the elbow bandage?

Glycerin, as in add a little nitrogen....

(Incidentally, it is also very valuable to the cosmetics industry...which is why use of cosmetics was discouraged in the US and rationed in the UK.)

From the middle of May to 22 June 1940, the French fought alone in France.

Given the doctrinal and organizational shortcomings of the French Army at the time, they had little hope of changing the outcome, however, the average French trooper acquitted himself well enough.

Everybody seems to heap scorn of the French for their performance in the summer of 1940, but, it must be remembered, the British Army was right there next to them, and didn't do any better, they just had a place to run to.....

Had Britain been invaded under the Chamberlain Government*, would they have held together any better?

* Which wasn't replaced until the day after Fall Gelb was initiated.

We used fats from animals in the production of explosives. More fat that was produced more explosives that they could make.
