Rub a Dub, five men in a tub. Give me the rifle and not the ride. Military intelligence? What mission are they on? Seek and destroy? I see no soap nor towels just some unhappy grunts. Could it be anti VC submarine patrol? Inquiring minds want to know.

It is not an extended bayonet lug. What you see is the latch assembly of the grenade launcher locked in place on the bayonet lug.

No subs......it was a riverine operation. They protected allied supplies being transferred up river in a certain section that was heavily fortified with VC. Some of it winding through thick forest. This men in the "Tub" were often sitting ducks....

Riverine Warfare was an interest of mine. Just before my career ending injury I was working with my CC on possibly switching rates...Master At Arms were in need of SAMI's....and I had a LE mindset....but I really wanted to be assigned to a SBU or SDVT. Which meant for me with my Ordnance certs would mostly like have to go GMG (sort of unsettling...AO's and GMG's don't mix too well)......But a little stint with EOD led to an accident/injury which ended all that .......; )
