Still have my dress blues, my mess dress, and all my other uniforms. I got out in 1992. Note, I was in the Air Force, and not the Marines.

| Have two sets
issued to me in 1968. Good thing, Ill need the two sets to make one that I will fit into when I am buried. Weighed 145 at the time and 200 now, plus that damn gravity has shifted my shape.

Nope didn't have them. They're on my "wish list" to get someday before I die. Maybe before I die I might actually fit/wear them? I hope I might be buried in them at least. Hard to say when that will happen. I expect not too many people will care at that time. Guess I'll have to leave a note for someone trustworthy. Dress blues, my M14 and a Colt by my side. |

Still have my Air Force dress blues from the early 70's. I tried to wear them but I look like 50 lbs of lard in a 5 lb sack.

Still have a set of 'Blues. Wife had me try them on a couple of months ago. Needless to say, after 15 years and 20 pounds, neither the blouse or trouser fit.

still got 'em..............
I never got issued a set though. I was 0311 from 1985 - 1989 and at that time grunts didn't get them unless you paid for them. A buddy in my platoon had a couple of sets issued to him when he was on Embassy Duty. He needed some $$$$ so I got a set.
Of course, after 20 years they look better on the hanger than they do on me.... |

Got mine, issued for Sea Duty. Can't even get my arm in the sleeves any more. My daughters, 17 & 19, who are athletes and in shape are too big for the waist of the pants. They have a hard time believing dad was that small.

Please forgive the intrusion of a lowly squid into ya'lls domain, but this reminds me of something I've always wondered. How come it is that the Navy, Army, and the Air Farce (oops, did I really say that) all issue dress uniforms and the Marines don't? Is it they figure ya'll are going to be too busy shooting and pillaging to get dressed up, or just the ol' "the other services get all the nice stuff and the Marines just make due" thing?

My dad retired from the Corps in 1959 and still has his blues. Every November 10th he puts them on (still fit), looks in the mirror, and says "pray for war". Drives my mom crazy. Of course she could also be mad because her birthday is also November 10th. For all 41 years that they have been married they have celebrated her birthday on November 11th because as my dad likes to say every year "the Corps was born first".

It appears that they have been doing things this way for about 3 years now. I suspect that when the other services were getting theirs issued the cost was being deducted automatically without fanfare.
