Radio question

Hey all, im watching Marines(reserves) train in a MOUT town @ Ft Knox, dated within the last 8 years or so, and I saw something that surely cant be true-

It looked like an AN/PRC77 on his back, not as small as modern ones and a regular antenna so i dont think it was a SINCGARS, is that at all possible?

A radio that old still in use? I knwo its USMC Reserves, but still

What do you mean old ! ! !

I represent that remark. All I know is the plastic bag from the batteries will keep your wallet dry.

Smoke em if ya got em.

I can't tell you if the Marine Corps. still uses the PRC77, but I know they did as late as 1989.
I carried it for about a year......this is Mt. Fuji, Japan, 1986
