| New MCL Membership Guidelines
Previously, the Marine Corps League had required an absolute minimum of three months active duty and an honorable separation (as per Marine Corps regs) for membership, but no more. According to long standing USMC regulations, the only situation in which time spent in an OCS program counts as active duty is if the candidate graduates but this policy is apparently no longer acknowledged by the league, which is now making its own rules. The case in point involves a member who completed three weeks of OCS before being booted and has freely admitted to having never been a Marine, yet somehow earned the right to attend league functions wearing sergeant stripes and a good conduct ribbon. As a consequence, the actions of the counterfeit Marine and sergeant have gotten the wearing of dress blues banned at that detachment. No matter though, the individual in question has been elevated to high department, regional and national office by powerful friends who conceal the contents of the DD214 in question as if it were Obama's actual birth certificate. So, if you're a wash-out who thinks that you're ineligible for MCL membership, think again. Apparently we're so desperate that all you have to do is get some drinking buddies and in this case, spouse, at your local detachment to certify that they've seen your 214 and all is in order and you're on your way to the top. If you think I sound disgusted, you have a keen sense of the obvious. To those of us who actually earned our EGA's, served overseas, and those who are combat disabled, this is an outrage.
SEMPER FIDELIS!
