the stries on this topic could go on for ever!

when my H-1 sqdrn was to deploy to the 1st gulf war the C.O.( who later earned the navy cross) personally stole anything he felt we needed! When told "sir you can't do that he would simley reply with, " you I'm going to war! I'll make sure you get it back when we're done with it!

We were to deploy from El Toro air station in Ca. When another un named sqdrn wasn't quite read to jump off the ole man Told us to load the AF C-5. Halfway thru the upload the AF load master noticed that they were the wrong aircraft and wrong unit! Again the C.O. responded, " It'll take us a full day to unload and another day atleast for those guys to load. Or we can be wheels up an under an hour!" needless to say we didnt unload!

When we left CONUS the ole man had strict orders that each of our pallots and aircraft were to have 2 man watch over them at all times! each piece of gear was assigned to those 2 guys and if it was "lost" they would have hell to pay! When we landed in Saudi it was like a gold mine, more articals of war just laying around the tarmack than that group of marines knew what todo with! But 1 enterprizing young CPL. Prinz, who was so smooth i think he could sell the pope a penthouse, had an idea! He told all of us tsplit up, one guy stay with the assigned gear and the other find something we might need! by that time prinz had found the lonely AF embark SGT that had the never ending job to find out where all this stuff was suppossed to go! CPL. Prinz was more than happy to help this SGT out with that! They were like ole school buddies team mates almost!

Well 1st day of the air war the X.O. went to his aircraft and noticed the Hellfire missles loaded in the lauchers said US ARMY on the side. He asked, " I don't wanna know where those came from do I?" To that he was told NOand assured that when he pulled the triger they would go off the rail and dutifully send some Haji to see there virgins!

I was friggin pissed off. Don't take shit that might mean life or death on a convoy route. After that I ALWAYS had at least 2 troops remain with the trucks as security, even if it meant they ate an MRE or a take-out meal from the DFAC. Lesson seriously learned the hardway. Too bad we had to guard our shit from other US convoys.
you learn quick!

I was talking with a fellow machine gunner one day. We didn't get to see each other much because he was from another platoon, so we were catching up and swapping lies...

I started complaining about my turret arrangements. I was having to bungie cord my ammo cans to the turret... This was pretty annoying because it did not allow the ammo to feed directly into the gun. But that's the Marine Corps way! Do more with less...

We are talking, and he stops me and says that we are going to fix that problem. He takes off with me following behind him. We end up at the army's side of the base in their motor pool...

Next thing you know we are toting armfuls of gear out of their trucks in broad daylight... Got an ammo can holder, among other things... I miss the Marine Corps sometimes...
