Lord help us if we break a firing pin or hammer! Wish an inspired machinist would make some of these for spares. I know they would go for a premium price but I'd be willing to pay. I'm soooooo PO'd at Robinson Arms for not making spare parts for the fire control group! Don't think I'd purchase their XCR series for that very reason. You just don't leave people with a product that you can't buy spare parts for.

Years ago I made a bracket at work to mount the top feed to a M2 tripod-that was cool(just can't seem to find what I did with it). Only thing I wish I had is a Stoner 63 barrel carrying handle to put on the top feed.
Well, it may have been awhile but I got 2 Stoner 63 barrel carrying handles.

Looky what I got from Mongo. A stoner 63 bipod. Needs a little tig welding and then blasted and reparked, but sure looks at home on the bren gun.

Was browsing gunbroker 6 months ago and there was a registered lightening link for the M96 pop up for sale.
I didn't have my trust at the time or it would have been mine.

Not if you own more than 1, then you have a whole set of extra parts.

You are right it being a post 86 thing.
I love how people bad mouth the M96 because of no parts support but my guess is they have never spent any range time with one to know what nice guns they are and how accurate they can be.
People read stuff online form an opinion based on hearsay.

Agreed, my M96s are some of the best shooting 5.56 rifles I've ever fired.
At the same time I've got 3 gun safes filled with guns and only shoot 3 or 4 on a regular basis. I getting old(it happens) and have entered the beginning of the end of my shooting times. I don't have 40 or 50 more years ahead of me shooting guns, if I'm lucky it's more like 15. Might as well enjoy what I have not shot for years or sell somethings off( both of which I'm doing now,do I really need 10 M1As or that stack of NIW parts). I've had my M96s since 1999, that was 18 years ago, it's time to start enjoying them more.

Dam, last year after more than 35 years not owning or riding one I bought a dirt bike(YZ250X). I may not ride it as fast or hard as I did 35 years ago, but I am enjoying the piss out of it. Life's short.

I shoot my M4's a lot more than any of my other guns but I have friends that ask me to bring the M96 so I do and always enjoy shooting it.
Thru the irons up to 250 yards is a piece of cake and my eyes aren't that good without glasses.
With the Valdada IOR scope 500-600 yard shots are easily repeatable on steel.
I have some old 223 Hornady match ammo but have never run it thru that gun so maybe it would get a tighter group at 5 or 6 hundred yards.
At that range just hitting the steel is good enough for me.Its not meant to be a 1 MOA gun anyway.
If I run across another one at a gun show I will buy it thats how much I like them.
Would love to find a side folder for one.

So I decided to try an Airsofts companies Stoner furniture for my M96. I know the real Stoner stuff is inter-changable but took a chance that the Airsoft stuff would or at least be close enough with some work. Well I here to tell you they are both great. For the stock I only needed to remove about 40 thousandths from each side of the mounting bracket, and it went right in. Perfect fit and it looks just like a real one.
The pistol grip is way to wide but with some sand paper, a file/rasp and a lot of fitting and patience it looks damn good. Mounts just like a Stoner/M96.

Heres some pics.
