Thanks. I'm really wantin to get rid of the end of the barrel and find something closer to the M63s flash hider. Dont like the M16 bird cage. The SIG 550-2 SP has one that looks pretty close.

Rifle arrived today. Just waiting (impatiently) for him to get home from work so I can pick it up.

My question:

I want to turn down the end of the bbl and add a flash hider. The Galil is VERY close to matching the Stoners. Will this hurt the value of the rifle?

Talked to John at RetroArmsWorks and he'll do the work for me.

Opinions?

Any rifle that's in high demand/collector value and seized production...which had any modifications done to it other than original manufacturer will definitely bring down its re-sale value, but that's just me. I'd rather spend my money on an original un modified, than spend it on some one cutting rethreading just to add on a different brake.

I agree.

With that said, after the ban went away in 2004 Robinson Armament threaded barrels if requested. I bought the last Recon kit from them and it came with a threaded barrel with a A2 flash suppressor on it.

Robinson threaded mine 5/8x24 and I found a flash hider similar to the 63 and installed it. [IMG][/IMG]
here it is without the underfolder and Aimpoint.

Apex has Galil FHs that are super close to the Stoners and in 1/2x28 threads. Have one on the way. Going to send it to John for the work. Looking fwd to having the adjustment. Should look closer to the real deal.

Are M16 and Stoner bayonets interchangable?

You can but it isn't right. there is the offset rear sight and front sight. and a small metal shield that covers the barrel latch when the receiver is inverted. The Stoner bayonet is different than the M-16. the rear offset sight has a contoured cover that looks better behind the magwell to cover over the opening....

Checked that rifle out--funny they say it was produced from 2004 to 2011. Truth is it was produced from 1998 to 2004.

Rifle has 1st generation gas system and 2nd barrel RA made - unlined carbine barrel

Thanks from 37thguy
