Special Range Trip Today-Pic

Took out the DPMS 308 today.
16" barrel. A2 Iron Sights, stock and hand guard.

No float, rails, glass or toys. Simple workhorse.

Conditions: 45 degrees F. Gusty and light rain on and off. Overcast, of course.

Hirtenberger 1976

Shot the 200 yard range standing with the tripod.

Was hoping for better, but conditions were challenging. This is the first time I had this rifle out to 200 yards.

Got all 10 on paper. Two in the 7 ring. One in the 8 ring. Four in the 9 ring. Three in the 10 ring.

Thanks from 4th award expert

88/100 standing offhand with a short barrel in mediocre conditions is pretty darn good.

Hello, Good going on the range time.. I wish it would get to the mid 40s here... and no snow.. Range time is way over due for this one..
And, I don't post firearm pictures on the internet either.... Your pictures didn't load.

So here's today

150 yrds. 5-10 wind blowing from rear left to right. 35degrees. Altitude at roughly 6000ft. Took a while to settle in because of chill here. these are my last 2 targets after resighting scope( Burris tactical ar-536) to 100 vs 300 yards. New bushy did ok me not so good. Ten shots at big target. 5 shots at little ones. Should have worn my darn heavy thermals. http://m14forum.com/attachment.php?a...1&d=1487629485
Hope they show up let me know. Still trying to figure out pics.

Good shooting! Glad to hear you got out to the range.

What does a perfect day without challenges prove anyway! You did very well.

I just watched an extensive video of some guys in Texas shooting out to 1600 meters! They had to read and adjust for several different wind directions over various terrain features between the firing point and the targets. Amazing application of skills to overcome multiple challenges. And they did it!

Once you know how good your rifle and ammo are, it is then all about YOU! And that is a good thing. Some days will be better than others. But what you bring to the range in your head is more important than what is in the gun case or the ammo can or the conditions at the range.

Ty for nice comments

I always try to keep try to keep the kiss concept. Same ammo (factory) or two that run very close. It's so different shooting here than my home state at sea levelish.
Was talking to club member who plays with next new thing. Changes with trends. Me personsonally I don't. I go with small bell curves that work. He was telling me he plays with 4 powders in his larger and smaller centerfires. He asked what I do on mine for reloading. I said 1. Why make it confusing! Just dial it in. I only have a single stage reloader. I check, check and recheck every stage of reloading. Sure it sucks but I end up with better stuff I think.
For my new 5.56nato I'm thinking of a speed reloader for plinking but now I get great prices for brass made 55gr. Still give my new brass to guys who reload at my club, but yes but!
