Bushmaster my new one.

I joined this sight because people seemed to be a little less more hating of this brand, especially of the new ones from NY. That being said mine really impressed me. Day one I broke it in cleaning after each slap of a round until a dry patch through until came clean after or cleaned with dry cloth patch, bore cleaner patch, brush down barrel, dry patch till clean. This sucked might I say til about round 35-40 cleaning after each shot. I was sighting my new 536 tactical 5x from 25 yrds. Till 100. I live at 7500 ft above sea level and was shooting federal American 5.56 brasses 55 gr. Oh by way it's a moe 16". So after putting in a solid 2cm. Group at 100yrds. Yes being astonished with this grouping at this range on day one. I thought I should move onto silhouette targets uphill at 300.
Damn now onto 5 shots with 30 sec intervals between shots and cleaning every 10. Let met tell ya this was a long day of breaking it in(4 hrs) At where I belong to a club we have long range silhouettes out to 1000 all up hill n out. I snapped 300 yrds very well like my 300 match gun n moved out to 600yrds. 4 out of 5 with therms building and winds picking up from left to right with no clicks to my scope. At 600 my target was about 14" x 12" high at the angle I was shooting with a knoll to clear over. Damn I never know this could happen with an ar! I'm not here to say anything but this was awesome to me at this altitude with this little gun new out of the box. Is this a fluke with this brand when so many people hate on it or did I just get lucky? All I know is the range master was impress that I was tagging it. More than the rest of the guys at the angle I was shooting from and most other guys there were shooting 300 blkouts with lesser angles and bigger scopes. I was worried after buying this gun and reading posts for 3weeks beforehand . Time will tell on wear but darn it I had great accuracy and small groupings on day one. people were taking notice of this at the range. My gramps always said its the guy behind the gun... Needless to say I'm very stoked with this bm and can't be happier!
Sorry for the rant but had to fully explain the procedure to get proper responses back. Has anyone ever gotten this accuracy before or is this a fluke I got one made right wth a bm?

Thanks from Stamp Mill

That detailed cleaning procedure is not nessicerry with a chrome lined bore, shoot 50 or a 100, then clean it.

I used to deal with Bushmaster (Quality Parts) in Windham Maine exclusively for rifles & parts back in the old days, they had mostly FN USGI stuff at that time which was good quality stuff. Then the owner sold it off to that gun consortium and 4 years later in 2010 they closed it down and moved to NY, leaving all the former employees in Maine without jobs. The bright spot is a few years later they opened again as "Windham Weaponry" and put most all the former employees back to work. They both make a nice rifle, but, IMHO neither is the same as the old Bushy's I have or built...

Check your buffer plug. See if it's pinned. If not keep an eye on it, lest it walk out and prevent full rearward travel of bolt carrier group. I saw a bushmaster with one doing that. Didn't allow the bolt to hold open after last round.

My department has two BMs manufactured shortly after Newtown. I have not been impressed (accuracy & fit) but my sample size is only two and like I say from back in the "we can't make them fast enough" day.

Thanks guys for all the feed back so far.. Yes it's pinned and was the first thing I checked. The original buyer was the Kessler ranch, which just sold. This gun I assume was went over with a fine tooth comb, because the buyer's name, which I did as well. They never used it. I was the first, since new in box with extra clips still sealed in plastic-sealed I guess they enjoyed weatherby big guns better since they used to go there a couple times a year. I know the history well on bm, but never seen them shoot this well otb, but oldies. I will keep ya up to date on any issues. I'm going to just have fun plinking and see what ends up going to the wayside and replace.. Again thanks for positive feedback..
