I buy vortex becouse of quality and becouse I'm a Vet and I get 40% off MSRP. I just picked up a Viper HD 20-60x80 spotting scope. It's the bomb! I also picked up the GT Pro bipod and this cool attachment called a PhoneSkope (if you do a lot of spotting expecialy with your small kids mine are 3 and 7 and I'm a den leader for the cub scouts this phone skope is awesome for them to see with out outing their hands on)
I also have a viper HS and a PST gen 1 with a Gen 2 on order.
They are great and I don't think I will be going anywhere else to buy for life. Next is range finder. The binocular ones look awesome.
I have watched my family and friends all buy so-called deals.... on scopes and they spent good money one decent brands but I watch them return and try again and again. I will say this becouse it took me years to learn but when it comes to glass. Buy Once, Cry Once.

I have a Sparc, Strikefire II, and Viper PST 6-24. All are nice optics for the money. I had an original Strikefire that blew the red dot in it. Sent it back and had a new Strikefire II on my porch 7 days later no questions asked. Even threw in a hat and Vortex sticker.

If your looking for a red dot then i would def go with vortex. I have 2 sparc 2's and would buy another one. For $200 the price and performance cant be beat. Works just as good as my $550 aimpoint. I also got a free vortex hat when i bought them on amazon. I have used them for coyote and bore hunting out to 400-500 yards with no issues. For not being a scope i would say that's pretty damn good. I will also be putting my crossfire 4x12x44 on my M1A here shortly and don't expect any issues. Oh and they have the best customer service and warranties.

Just picked up a Viper 2.5 - 10 x 44 from Optics Planet and am excited! It's nice to hear the praise and the fact the companies CS is rock solid.. Makes even more comfortable with my choice. Just for context, it beat out a Leupold VXR Patrol in my choice of glass..

I like Vortex....however I think the better quality for the money begins at the Viper line and goes up from there. I have a Viper 6-24X50 on my groundhog rifle, and a Strikefire II on an AR. I love the Viper.....not that impressed with the Strikefire II (wish it had a stepless rheostat for brightness).

Not "overly" impressed with the Crossfires or most Diamondbacks....they seem the same as average Nikons of same price point.

Tell us other Vets about the 40% discount.......are you speaking of the "promotive.com" program that Vortex and a zillion others participate in?

I had my Sage EBR Rifle sitting on my Work Bench when the Bipod tilted and caused the Rifle to Flip off of the bench and land on the Concrete Floor driving the Elevation Turret of my Vortex PST 4-16 into the Tube. I sent the Scope to Vortex explaining that it was my Fault, but to see if it could be salvaged. A Week later a package from Vortex arrived with a Brand new Scope and a note saying that the damage was too severe to repair. Their no fault warranty is great, as is the scope

XUSNORDIE,
Vortex has special pricing for Veterans and LEO's. Give them a call. I have extensive experience dealing with them as a dealer, consumer and LEO. They are terrific folks to deal with.

Thanks from XUSNORDIE

Awards Showcase

Just today I bought a Vortex SPARC II from SWFA.
I'm going to out it on the Beretta CX4 Storm I acquired last week.

Thanks from Glashaus and Dougboffl

I have a Viper HS-T on my AR Grendel, and love it. I'll buy Vortex from now on when I purchase optics, the warranty can't be beat and you'll probably not find a better scope for several hundred dollars more.

I have a Vortex PST and I love it.......for it's intended purpose, which is 350 yards and less on an AR it's a wonderful choice. I've looked through their higher power scopes and I must say....... SAVE YOUR $$$. The almost year it took me to save and buy a "scratch and dent" or dealer 2nd or whatever 2.5-10x42 Nightforce NSX was WELL worth the wait..... I can not find the "flaw" that made it a "factory second" from Optics Planet. My personel opinion about Votex is if your application is 500 yards and less......go for it, they are well built and have a great warranty. If 500 yards and more......save your $$$$ for glass with better clarity. Look hard at the SHV stuff from Night force too. But I'm the guy who saved $$$ when I lived in Idaho and was hunting elk and mule deer and bought a used pair of Swarovski SLC 10x42 bino's and a 20-60x80 spotting scope off of eBay and have never regretted it. The bino's put me on a herd of elk one day I would not have seen in my Tasco's which ended in success. I know my Tasco's were not up for the job because my hunting partner had them and you could not see the elk with them I could see with my SLC's. Buy once cry once.....

For sure Votex stuff is way better than Tasco stuff ever was, but for longer range, in my opinion, I for sure think the money spent on higher quality optics is well worth the effort it takes to earn that money.

Update: I bought the Strikefire II and the Vortex 3x Magnifier. If I have my terms right it's set for absolute Co-Witness I think. So far it seems I have a lot of bang for the buck.

Thank you all for the input/feedback

Thanks from ChileRelleno

CR, you are going to really like the CX4! I have had one for about 10 years and they are a lot of fun, very well made. They look a little strange to some, but they work great!
