Mk 12 mod 0

I got the green light from the warden to start my new build. Never owned an AR before or built one. So I going to buy a complete upper from PRI or high caliber and put the lower together myself.

This will be some what of a clone build. I don't have the patience to gather all the period correct parts for the rifle. Basically all the stuff that isn't being made anymore I'm going to substitute for something as close as possible.

Parts list:
MK12 Mod 0 genIII upper
A1 Lower from Brownells (when they come back instock)
SSA two stage trigger
a2 pistol grip
A2 stock
parts kit for lower.
KAC bipod adapter
harris 6-9 swivel bipod
Mk4 3.5-10 scope
Arms #22 medium rings
Arms #22 tactical ring cap
Arms #22 tactical ring rail
Arms #40 Rear site
AEM5 suppressor
20rnd straight metal mags

I always wanted an AR but the 5.56 round never had a use for it until my dad started talking about coyote hunting.... but really I just want a cool rifle and the MK12 mod 0 with the PRI fiberglass hand guard, swan skeeve, and muzzle brake and collar have a unique look.

Thanks from delong31, rbgonoles, wcoyne and 1 others

With the scope I will go with either the mk4 2.5x8 or 3.5x10 with tmr illuminated reticle.

That's a great rifle, we had two in country 2008. Be aware that is a pricey build, those parts are unique and quite spendy.

Spend extra on a good trigger! Coyotes seldom stand still. I built an AR for the same purpose, as well as many others. The one I set up for yotes is the only one I still have. I have an aimpoint and a high magnification scope for it.

I have one that is all correct. It's got a Leupold TS-30A2 if I remember correctly. I also have the Ops Inc 12th model can. It's amazing.

been saving up for a new gun for a while plus the warden wants another kid so I figured I better get this done before that happens.

What A1 lower you going to use. I went with a Brownell's A1 lower. Wanted to use a NoDak but the wait is 8 months. Never done the 80% route. Also using an A1 stock and A1 grip. Retro on the buttom all modern on top.

I was looking at brownells but they are out of stock of there retro receiver. I would like a nodak lower since I live an hour away from them but the wait time....

Who else makes A1 lowers?

Might have a better chance at getting a used one, for times sake.

Mckay Enterprises. But he was sold out as well. NoDak said that there was a major delay with the forgings. The only ones I know of are expensive Colt take offs, NoDak, McKay and Brownells.

Here's my clone. The upper is on a McKay Ent A1 that I had for a M16A1 clone. I've since swapped with the Brownells A1. I have the Geissele SSA trigger. Using a Primary Arms scope while saving for a Leupold.

I know its not a real Mk12 but I have a Daniel Defense Mk12 with the Leupold Mk4 2.5-8x36 scope I really like the rifle and setup. I am thinking about selling the rifle though because I have another AR15 but will keep the scope and ditch the scope on the other AR. I watched a Vickers tactical video with a Navy Seal sniper about the Mk12 before seeing one for sale on Gunbroker so I bid and won. Mine needs a fixed stock to be a closer replica and I might change mine if I keep it

Good luck with your build and please post up some pics. I would like to build a Mil-Spec Mk12 myself and might some day.

My DD version of the Mk12 is on the bottom
