I used an Anderson lower on my last build. I was very impressed with the machining and finish. No hand-fitting whatsoever. Just this morning I ran across a 10 1/2" barrel from an old Model 607 project so it looks like I'm building a pistol next.

Can never have too many M14's. I did a week or so before the election purchase a mini 14 in 300BO its arriving this Tuesday. The thought of an AR makes me puke in my mouth a little bit but to each his own. However me filling my 15 40mm ammo cans with ammo and supplies is on my top priority. I have 4 years to do it.

Thanks from Snyper762

Really??? I like the AR-15 rifle. In my 17 years of service, it never failed me. I would say my most favorite rifle to shoot is the M14, and collecting would be the '03 Springfield. But I really love shooting the M1 rifle and M1 carbine too. They are all great to shoot and collect.

Wellllllll....nahhhh...I didn't "panic",
but I did buy that AR. And ammo.
And, now, I am thinking of adding
another...just to keep my M1A
company, mind you.

Glad I did, too.

Thanks from Csorin

Panic? I have had an M4 since the 90's. There is nothing new here lately to really worry about. I did order 100 rounds of 7.62 because i saw a "panic" price increase coming but now that is over.
I expect sales coming soon.

I did but just after Newtown. Picked up a nice RRA NM A4. After that, I bought a 5 stripped 80% lowers and stashed them away back home CONUS.

Now I am just stashing away ammo.

Last fall, the German interior minister warned Germans to stockpile 10 days of food and water but didn't say why. Now the govt. usually doesn't just say stuff like that for no reason. I figured the govt. must know something I don't so I went out and bought several 10L jugs of water, flour, canned goods, and a lot more ammo for my stash.

My actual SHTF gun is my Winchester 9422 and I am well stocked with ammo for that, followed by my AR and my M14. Also well provisioned in .38 and .45

I think it was that GWebs guy who discussed the Panic buying issue. They made the point that are you buying for the sake of buying because of the market is going to go temporarily dry or are you buying what you have been planning on buying for sometime but you just never pulled the trigger on it, whether mags, new upper, case of ammo until the alleged panic buy.

I know myself I've had a few things I've wanted for a while but just never grabbed them up, even with the election hysteria. But it was my plan the morning of the results to get some things if She did win. haha.

I didn't panic. I took action. We califonidiots now have to register our rifles in January and cannot purchase a full featured rifle after the same date. (Featureless is ok, but another thread.)

I did not panic buy. What I did do was sell two rifles to friends without at a bargain price, give one away to a freind that couldn't afford it and buy a complete lower from a reputable manufacturer so that o could take advantage of the warranty if need be.

At the end of the day, I have 2/5 as many AR type rifles that I did before, but three more people own one who otherwise wouldn't.

This is a long game and positive opinions, not violence, will determine the winner. We will only win with the numbers on our side.

No panic buys.

Bought things I'd wanted for a while or needed - if the price seemed good.

2016 purchases:

Got the M1 because CMP had them @$735 and was not sure that would still be around.

Got a P38-shooter, always loved the look of those and I thought the $375 price was okay. (German police Interarms import, matching serials, low wear).

Got a new Marlin 795-LTR for my first Project Appleseed Shoot (back in April) and have probably put 3,500 rounds down it and 3x Appleseed.

And I'm always buying ammo but as I need it or to stock for new calibers.

Kinda liking that LCP-ll as a second/backup (replacement for my LCP gen 1) but that is all that is on my horizon.

If the SHTF I'd spend hours trying to figure out what weapons to select.

When I was younger my To Get list was pretty long, and I went after it. After a while, I realized I didn't have time to set them up/outfit/reload/clean them... or even shoot them... all properly and stopped. Over the past 10 years or so, I've culled the herd and started working on getting each weapon setup properly (including hardware, mags, cases, etc) and a proper stash of either ammo or reloading components for same. The bonus to that is I know each weapon better, they are properly cared for, and I'm not spinning off trying to find 13 different powders or 65 different bullets, etc.

Thanks from Snyper762
