Supposedly around were I am living, they have a hard time getting AR parts. So they charge extra for a AR rifle. Plus selling used Pmags for $20. I can buy new Gen 3 mags for less than $14 locally if I watch what I am doing. Sheesh, I am tempted to buy a Palmetto State Armory complete upper receiver and a 80% lower. Super cheap. I bet they will work just as good as there AR. Just sayin..

Simple fact is that if a mfg. of firearms is not in the AR game, they are missing a large market. Have no idea what the ratio of M1A's are to those of AR's but you can bet it is very much in favor of the AR firearms. We users of firearms of whatever type take a special pride of ownership and so do the quality mfg.'s, but it is all about the money/profit.

Yes they did try, I had a receiver on order but they were sued by Colt for something or another, I had to go with a EA Arms receiver [cast] because that was about the only available until Olympic Arms started selling receivers.

This is a small thing, but I like the stainless steel trigger group, kudos to the Saint.

You can build a plain PSA for 500 bucks or a little less. Watch their sales.

SAI is not the same company of old since Bob Reese left it to family members and started his own surplus business years & years ago, I don't think they make anything anymore, their XD line in made in Croatia I think, some of their 1911's made by Imbel in Brazil, and no doubt this AR or parts will be made by someone else with SAI slapped on the side.

Much as I hate to say both me and a friend got subpar service from their gunsmithing department.

Their 1911 line is all made here now. Of course the ar is other people's parts with their name on it. So are about 85% of the ar market.

I'm cool with that. My favorite handgun - a 1911 - says Springfield on it. My favorite WW2 (M1) rifle says Springfield on it. My favorite battle rifle (M14) says Springfield on it. Now my favorite 'play' gun can say Springfield on it. I like keeping things consistent

I wonder if they'll sell stripped lowers.

Thanks from Snyper762 and evilgrin

They should have done this quite a while ago. Maybe around 04-05.

I was able to pick one up today and yet have to pull it out of the box yet. What I have seen I do like so far. The case it came in is nice.

I don't think it's stainless but instead just a regular trigger group that has been nickel boron coated. There are quite a few companies doing that now. Nothing revolutionary there.

I was hoping it would be something new. Polymer 1911, hi-power style aluminum frame 9mm, defensive shotgun, etc... AR is very flavor of the week. I've read a couple early reviews in which the writer tried to set the rifle apart. Unfortunately, aside from the furniture it just isn't doable. Ultimately like anything this offering will be a sum of its parts and with so many options out there it is going to be a tough market. My guess is they are going after the smith and Wesson customer looking for an AR at the LGS counter.

Hmm...that makes me think of something else. I wonder if SAI's venture into the AR market is the beginning of the writing on the wall for the possible end of production of the M1A?

My simple take is this....I don't shoot ARs anymore... However, if I were in the market I would probably go DD. If I was in the market for a more budget friendly AR....I would probably spend a little more for the 6920.....but this appears to be a very nicely appointed rifle that depending on the retail price, might be a real winner.
