Hi
All of this is very interested and I have learned a lot I didn't know about ammo and the power of each load. It appears to me that all the BO needs is a good bullet that will do what most of us want-killing power.
I am sure some one will produce one in the near future.
I am somewhat confused about some of the posters talking about this being a lot more expensive to build then a 556.
I have $127.00 in my poly complete lower and I will have $489.00 in my complete upper. I have found uppers for as little as $429.00 complete. That doesn't seem to be any more then a M4 or M16 build. Plese correct me if I am wrong.
I have followed this thread with great interest and appricate everyone's advice and really like learning about thing's I have no clue on.
Thank's
Greg

Yes, it costs the same as a 5.56/223

If you are building one yourself the only difference is the barrel, and you can pick them up for $200 on Midway

If you are a handloader then the cost of ammo is pretty similar also. Maybe the 308 projies are a bit more expensive but you load in 20% less powder along with the dies and that's about it.

If you have a 223 upper and a few tools you can buy a 300 barrel and swap out for a taste-test. Try the new calibre and if not satisfied swap back. For the cost of a barrel, $200

Thanks from gregaba

Got it buildt

Hi
I finally got the 300 buildt and am very happy with. It is accurate and has zero recoil with the JP tactical muzzle brake on it. It is very load and the guys were commenting on it.
I will let you know how it does on hog's as the season is open and I hope to get a few this week.
I have decided to go ahead and order 2 more lower's and build a 6.5 and a 6.8 as money allow's

Congrat's on getting it built. I had a chance to shoot mine suppressed over the holiday, and was very pleased with the results. Should make a fine deer hunting rifle for me within moderate range. I'm also considering a 6.8 build in the future..

No Hogs this year.
Went to my friend's house to get rid of some of the hog's that are tearing up his place. He live's next to the wichita national wildlife refuge.
I guess with everyone hunting the hog's retreated to the refuge untill the season is over. Not one has showed up and he usually has 20 to 30 every night on his place.
I did get 3 before the season started with my 44 mag but nothing now.
Really wanted to ee how the blk. did on them. Most will dress out at 200 lb's or more.
Oh well that's how the cookie crumble's.

Yup - same thing happened to me last gun deer season. (chuckle)

Oh well - better luck next time. I'm curious myself how it handles the hogs.
