My LW Middie Build Idea ...

Turned into something else entirely:

Colt LE6920. Clyde Armory's deal was just too good to pass up.

http://clydearmory.com/colt-le6920.html

And as it sits in a cardboard box right now, it's 100% OEM.

That will change this evening. After the kids are put to bed, it's getting stripped of:

Hand guards
carry handle
stock
pistol grip
side sling adapter

And in its place goes the following:

Daniel Defense Omega 7.0 rail
TangoDown SCAR rail panels
Magpul aluminum extended trigger guard
Aimpoint Micro T-1 on a Larue Tactical mount
Matech BUIS (had one in a bag laying around)
TangoDown Battlegrip in FDE
TangoDown Stubbie QD front grip in FDE
Magpul STR in FDE (if I can find one; if not, the CTR)
VCAS Padded Sling in Coyote (QD in front attached to the QD socket on the left side of the rail)
Surefire X300 mounted...somewhere.

Pics in a few days...

Sounds both intersting and ambitious! Pics? Is your sling setup a single point? I've been running one of the new Magpul, uh, TRS2 single point/two point slings and really like it so far. I have been thinking about their new TRS3 with the wider straps and polymer hardware.

I've also done away with a FG and an now running a YHM smooth front tube and have gone to the thumb forward grip. I have my TLR1 light mounted on the right side and activate it with support hand index finger although that doesn't give me ambi control.

Looking forward to your pics!

BTW, is that a large pin Colt? I recently had the disconnector on my duty Colt and had order a new replacement which ended up being on backorder. I had to rob a disconnector from one of my other Colts to make do. I ordered extras, plus a couple of extra pins.

Thanks, gents.

I have everything on the carbine save the following:

Stock
TD Battlegrip
Rail Panels
Sling
Light/Mount

First thing to go was the Colt/Rogers stock. I accidentally broke the locking lever (located on the side of the stock) while taking the stock off the RE to examine it. Couldn't get the lock back together, even after watching Bill Rogers himself go over disassembly/assembly on a video. I think the stock's a neat idea - able to work on both .mil and commercial RE's - but still needs a little work. Or maybe it's just Colt's version (which is ever so slightly different). Oh, well - back to Magpul.

Speaking of Magpul, I also added the MOE Rail Vertical Grip (RVG) to the rail in lieu of the TD VFG. Best $24.99 I could've spent! It's exactly the right size and shape, bolts on easy, and is rock solid.

For light mounts, I'm going to try a Mossie Tactics 12 o'clock FSB mount for an X300. Pretty neat design, and it's being made/sold by Battlecomp. It uses a small Glock rail that bolts to the front of the FSB - perfect for the X300 and I'm guessing a TLR-1 if you roll with Streamlight.

ETA: Now available at Brownells - http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=4...MIDNIGHT-MOUNT

Pics on the way ASAP. Haven't weighed the gun, but sheer guess is that it still weighs around 7 pounds...maybe a little less. Going to the range later this week.

More on the way...

Update:

Zeroed my T-1 and shot a few strings at 25m.

Carbine gas + H buffer is a pretty good combo, and I don't plan on changing a thing in that area.

No surprises. Just a solid functioning Colt rifle. And I'm pleased as punch.

Pics coming soon.

Almost done...

Can't get a Magpul STR in FDE for another two weeks. So, decided to add:

- Vltor/BCM Gunfighter charging handle (Mod 4)
- VTAC sling in Coyote (no VCAS for the Colt this time)
- Gear Sector Scout offset mount for my G2X (waiting on the Surefire X300 Ultra)

If I can get it all together, I'll throw up some pics in a couple of days.

BTW - if you're a .mil guy and don't have an account at Brownells, you're really missing out. Ordered this stuff at 1400 today, and it shipped at 1630!

Just got it together, for the most part. Slapped on a CTR in lieu of the STR.

Still waiting on the X300 Ultra.
