I thought that the A5 system was designed specifically for carbine length barrels. If that is incorrect, PLEASE let me know.

It was designed to be used by the US Marine Corp as an improvement to their M16A4s as the standard stock is long especially when armor is worn, this would have optimized the M16A4s ability to fit more Marines and so they dont have to do the over the shoulder CQB hold when clearing a house.

The type classification would have been the M16A5, but the USMC has not adopted it

It also will work on PISTON AR uppers for Carbines not DI.

That said it MAY work on a Carbine but wasnt specifically designed for one, I think the regular EMOD is similar but for M4 types as far as the spring and buffer go
