| My First AR Trigger Job
I'm pretty new to the AR guns. I've owned a couple for several years but never did anything but plink around with them and clean them. But I've gotten more into them since I got my two LaRue Optimized Battle Rifles. Maybe it's because I started swapping around furniture and learning more about them from the gitgo.
The OBRs come with a Geissele SSA (Super Semi Auto) trigger. The one in the .223 gun is great, but the one in the 7.62 was too heavy for what I had planned. I had ordered the long barrel (20") because I wanted this gun to be more of a sniper rifle than a blaster, so I wanted a lighter trigger than the SSA.
I just replaced the SSA with another Geissele, a High-Speed Match - Designated Marksman Rifle. This trigger is adjustable but came out of the box with a 3 1/4 lb first stage and a second stage of 14 oz. Sweet!! This ought to be great for precision-style shooting. It fit in with my safety and receiver without any modifications.
I had never fooled with an AR trigger before, but between the written instructions and the videos on the Geissele site, it was a breeze to replace the triggers. (There was actually some finger smashing going on when pushing the hammer into place, but that's it.) The trigger came with a couple of installation tools that made it much easier than it could have been.
Now I just need to learn the right shooting technique for these fancy things. I guarantee they are harder (different) to shoot than a bolt gun or an M1A. I want to work up some loads but I need to be shooting better before I can evaluate ammo.
