Surefire Ar-15 Magazines

Anyone know the status of the new 60 & 100 round magazines from Surefire. I placed a pre-order in January and I have not received yet. Keep being told that Surefire keeps moving the releas date back from an initial April 2011 till supposedly July 11th.

Thanks

I'm curious how they'll function. I'm sure that Sure-Fire wouldn't release a substandard mag. Please post up a review when you do finally get the mag(s).

That would be one great birthday present if they were released 7/11!

I'm sure that Surefire is taking a page from other manufacturers' books by not releasing something that is less than perfectly functional just to 'get it out there'. Nothing makes or breaks a product more than having to recall it for a design problem!! I'm willing to wait for a really finished product.

I am willing to wait as well, but when you set a release date try to release close to it. It is over 3 months late now.

I guess I'm just different, personally I don't want that much extra weight added. Why I'm not a fan of the Redi-Mag or drum mags. Personally I'd like to see a some what shorter and more compact 25rd mag. Kind of split the size of the 20 rd and 30rd, anyway to each his own.

Yeah, Midwayusa says delivery date expected 7/11/11. I will post when I get mine. I agree that Surefire is not going to release a substandard mag. I really like their flashlights, carry one with me all the time.

I'm seeing a lot of reports of testing, with no malfuntions.

Didn't get an email back so I just called them. They said they have started shipping to their authorized dealers and that they will be available at their web site in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks from SGV

Is it just my eyes or does the bolt fail to lock to the rear with these mags?

Gonna have to run one in my gun to tell you that. If they don't then I would guess that they are not milspec and on top of that would be taking away one of the reasons they created this mag. SPEED! So I think you are not seeing something or/either they are having malfunctions.

Better Late Than Never

Finally got an email back; only took 11 days to compose two sentences.

Quote:
Dear Customer,

The 60-round magazines have been shipping to SureFire Authorized Dealers for the last 3 weeks. The 100-round magazines are still in the development process and we are aiming to have them available before the end of the year.

Thank You

You really have got to love bad/vague customer service. That is one of the reasons I do most of my parts ordering through Brownells. They have never done me wrong except for some ejection port covers for a 9mm AR that should have be standard. I kept the 9mm ones and got the standard covers as well. I am hoping to get an email from brownells soon about the status on my back order on these magazines.

Surefire Mag Finally Arrived!

Well, I finally got my Surefire 60 round mag this week. I bought from US Tactical instead of Midway since they are still on backorder there. Nice looking mag, I have not yet had the chance to go to the range.
