FA Receivers

I would love to have a set with all GI contractors represented and maybe put them all in a glass case on the living room wall.

*Sigh*

Is this our friend from downtown Ohio, Germany?

probably will only make the guy laugh, but I sent the following to the e-mail addy in his auction.

<<<<<<Sir: These receivers are illegal to import into the US as all USGI surplus parts including de-milled are illegal to import. You will only succeed in getting someone into major trouble if you ship them into the US. I would suggest to the benefit of all concerned that you adjust your auction to state that you will not send them to the US. Sincerely, Hawk>>>>>>>

Besides all of that, it's my understanding that saw-cutting isn't OK for de-miling (sp?) anyway. It has to be torch cut in several places, including the ring where the barrel threads in, right?

according to the BATF, a "properly" de-milled receiver has to be torch cut with a minimum of 1/4 width in cut. The receiver needs to have a "X" cut through both sides with a long cut through the receiver through the barrel ring and through the rear of the receiver between the sight rings.

That's 8 pieces That's a puzzle not a receiver

here's the reply I received....

Quote:
There are people that have special licences and are allowed to import receivers and if they are cut there is no problem.
I've replied with.......

I do not believe that to be true. However, according to the BATF a properly demilled receiver has to be torch cut with at least 1/4 inch taken out. It also needs to be "X" cut through both sides and a single cut down the center through both the barrel ring and between the sight rings. This would make it at least 8 pieces. I personally have a copy of that document. That would be the only legal way that they would be allowed to be imported into the country whether licensed or not. Either you are mis-informed, or you just don't care.
Doubt I will receive a reply....

Surprisingly he was on the computer when I sent the e-mail and e-mailed me back.....

Quote:
Wow sounds pretty complicated. Does it have to be a torch cut?

It would be very nice of you to send me the BATF document as an attachment.
I told him that I would try to locate a copy of the document and send it along.... May need Different's help in this as mine is most likely packed away in storage.

Will keep you all posted.

Oh and BTW... e-mail IP addy is Munich, Germany

Hawk, SixTGunr, Different, and others;

I'd like to say thanks for all of your work. Without you guys on our six, some of us might get into trouble just out of ignorance of the convoluted laws we've allowed to be imposed on ourselves. This stuff could ruin a life and create great hardship on a family.

I cant believe that dude would even consider cutting that reciever, thats actually more irritating than the fact that he can own it in one piece and I cant , go figure, and I thought we liberated them from evil tyranny

I think somebody with the initials B.A.T.F.E. is trying to pull a Randy Weaver. Pure entrapment if you ask me. He11, the guy selling the receiver may even be their little B'otch boy already. Doing their bidding to lighten his sentence.

Don't think for one minute, if somebody here was to bite on this Stink Bait. They wouldn't pull a....
"tell us all your dirty little secrets about other members of the various gun forums you belong to, and we might not throw away the key"

But these guys are the "Untouchables" (as in, get away with anything they want.) Especially now since they're under the D.O.J. and not revenuers anymore.

I think most everyone here has enough sense to stay away from this BS. Or at least, heed the sage advice of the experts we have here on this forum.

I wouldn't be so paranoid, if everyboby wasn't out to get me... time for me to go back under my tin foil hat now.
