Vehicle Gun Mount

My M1A (standard w/scope) has just been approved for duty carry:) . I must have it secured in the vehicle. Has anyone seen or used a vehicle rack mount for the M1A. The AR-15 and 870 mount I couldn't get to work. The only other option I can think of is a truck vault.

These San Angelo veticle and Jeep racks look like they bolt down and can accomadate a lock.

Also, Cheper Than Dirt offers a few kinds of gun racks that can be locked.

Cheaper than Dirt

I made mine. Rubber covered steel tubing and a couple peices of 1 1/2 inch angle iron. It locks and keeps the rifle right there by my right hand for quick deployment out the sunroof or out of the door. We do a lot of night hog hunting on private property. It's legal. A local welder can probably hook you up with a very well build and secure mount tailor made to your car. In my opinion the military mounts suck. They are not very freindly to your rifles finish and are a PITA to get the rifle out of in a hurry. I assume you are a cop by the way you sound so you need something dependable and very easy to mount and dismount the rifle from just in case.

....

What kind of vehicle are you looking at putting it in to??

The Military Mount can be modified so it will not ruin your weapons finish...

Dip both pieces of the mount in that “liquid plastic” it’s the same stuff you can get to coat tool handles....
