The first thing I'd check on any M1A I was going to buy wouldn't be the SN, it would be bolt roller interference with the receiver. This isn't a deal breaker, but it's definitely going to impact what I will pay.

There weren't as many options available when I was looking for my forged receiver USGI clone and I picked the "Classic" Viet Nam era model LRB M14SA. But for the Criterion barrel, the LRB bolt and receiver, all other parts are G.I.

I am very satisfied with it. They were about $1K less at that time. Best wishes on your decision.

In this day and age those are worth less in the real world than my BA in History and MA in PoliSci! Don't spread that information too much - the Trumpsters will be calling you an Elitist Spindoctor for the Deep State!

Cool

I'm stuck with only a BS in History and a BA in Languages (German).
I've never used the BS except to impress someone that I have it, However the BA is a different animal as I go to Germany/Europe with some regularity.

As for the M1A, you can keep all of the US made variants - Especially the sprungfelds! I will stick to my krappy old chicom junquer! It is all original chicom parts and has had a lot of rounds thru it with Never a hick-up! It also has a run fast switch so a lot of those rounds went thru it quick.

My degree in English Lit got me into a 25-year career in IT as a programmer, administrator and finally, teaching.
