Socom front sight

Now that I have decided to keep my Socom, can someone tell me what I need to do to convert the front sight to a Standard width sight?

Just order any kind you want and swap it, I would order a tall one like comes on a scout. This way your rear sight want be cranked way up when shooting at 100 yards.

I ordered one for a rifle I'm working on with a shorter barrel it was $50 shipped from SAI. I'm sure other places have them as well.

Okay, I thought there might be some kind of a height difference with the Socom.

Get the tallest one they make. I think the rear aperture on the socom is bigger than standard you can change that too if you don't like it.

There is a difference in sight height on the socom. You need a Tall front sight. Or a SEI Socom 16 Gas Lock part #2001-gl
Personally I would get the SEI GAS LOCK as that makes standard sights usable which equals the use of more interchangeable parts between rifles.

Looks like this

It can be found here http://www.smithenterprise.com/products03.01.html

Using this gas lock allows the use of standard height front sights.

Then put a vortex flash eliminator on it also from SEI. Also If you go that route I recommend putting a standard rear sight on the rifle as well.

Thanks from POLACK

I could just replace the rear aperture correct?

I use a front sight off of a scout, which is slightly taller than standard. I think I got it in the PX for $15-20 dollars.

Thanks from Wasted ammo
