I need pricing help? I live in southeast Michigan, metro area. An wife is filing for divorce (Mutual). Their for I have a M1a Standard Never fired and comes with over 650+ rds. and 2) 20rd, 1)10rd, 1)5rd mags. I was thinking $2,000 is that too much to ask?

We can't really tell you what it's worth. That's up to you and the buyer.

XXIV Corps will be along with this but in blue:

Please refrain from using the Firing Line as a substitute for each individuals responsibility. Any threads asking for a value will be deleted with this Sticky.

Also if you should decide to answer one of those questions, please refrain from giving a value. Without seeing the item in your own hands to review and gauge, you can be doing an injustice to either the buyer or seller by stating a value.

You can research the Sold Classified Listings (SPF) section below here which has over 7,400 listings, or other auction sites across the internet to come up with a general price for an item(s).

Thanks from XXIV Corps

Your ammo is the biggest variable. Is it Gold Medal Match or surplus?

Usually, you are better off selling the ammo separate from the rifle.

Why is it the wife always goes after the man's possessions like his guns & cars? Seems to be a form of emasculation they enjoy. Mine has let slip that threat a few times.

Sell it to your best friend for a dollar, then, buy it back after the heat blows over...

In Ohio the market is down for guns after the election. But you can ask any price you want for your rifle and lower the price incrementally until you find a buyer.
Ultimately it's between you and the buyer.

If you have to get rid of your guns ,
sell your rifle with one 20rd mag , no extras .
You'd be lucky to get pennies on the dollar for accessories or ammo.
Most people wind up giving valuable ammo & accessories up in a rifle sale ,
instead of taking the time to sell them and making more $$ .
40 or 50 rds is one thing 650 is another.
Depending on the brand and type your ammo alone would worth a fair bit ,
the 4 extra mags if in good shape would be another little chunk of change .
Of course you don't have to tell HER how much you got selling your stuff.

Thanks from Wasted ammo

johnny jr!

The rifle is the least of your worries... My EX filed on me (for sure mutual) and had me help her buy her own house... Life was good while she was gone but has since moved back in!

If you must sell, you will not get anywhere what a new one costs right now. Therefore, I would sell it to a friend cheap, try the PX here or Gunbroker.

Consult your attorney. My ex tried to get my possessions acquired before the marriage or given as a gift. The answer was no! I kept my motorcycle, guns, boat and motor and other treasures that were given to me or acquired prior to the marriage. She couldn't even touch the items she gifted to me. So go legal with a divorce attorney as each state may have different rulings.
