Is M1A NM 041023 too early to be a Glenn Nelson build?

I feel stupid for asking, as this info is probably out there, but would M1A National Match SN 041023 have been built by Glenn Nelson's shop, or by Springfield? It shipped in April 1987 according to Springfield Armory customer service, but they couldn't tell me anything else.

I have spent the last hour googling and reading, but finally have to give up, get some work done, and am desperate enough to ask.

It does have a TRW bolt, is glass bedded, and has a NM marked barrel marked Geneseo, IL by the chamber under the op rod.

Thank you in advance!

It is my understanding that SAI kept very good records of which receivers were sent out to Glen Nelson's shop. If they don't have a record of it, it most likely was done in house.

Stupid me, when I called them this morning, I didn't ask specifically if it went to Glen Nelson. I asked for a ship date and model configuration. Guess I'll call them back.

Exclamation

Post some pics, also is there any numbers on the flat portion of the receiver heel behing the rear site, also on the trigger housing, and inside the barrel channel as well as under the buttplate,it will be in white grease pencil,2 digits,All of the Nelson rifles ive seen were done with a brown colored bedding, the liners wete cut back between the receivers legs and filled in with bedding also,if you remove the rear site base there will be a check mark on the flat of the receiver where the rear site sets,im assuming this was put there after the rear site was checked for proper fitness and function.Hope this helps

Thanks from KurtC and Wasted ammo

I just got off the phone with Springfield. It did ship to Glen Nelson. I can't believe I didn't just ask them earlier. :) Thank you all!

Thanks from KurtC

What barrel blanks was Nelson using at that time?

Glen Nelson's shop was in the town I grew up. A friend worked at a roofing company on the same street and I must have driven by the place a few times and not even noticed it. Had I known this Glen Nelson thing was going to be a thing, I would have spent the couple hundred dollars more to get a NM M1A when I got my Loaded!

Douglas, or the ones supplied to him by SAI.

Thank you. Given this barrel has the Geneseo, IL mark, I suspect it is a SAI barrel, which would have been a Wilson blank, if I have read Different's info correctly.

Cubrock, you are corret ,on the NM rifles the blanks were supplied by Wilson,on the Supermatch rifles you had a choice of Hart ,Douglas,or Krieger.

A few quick ones.

The stock is very glossy. Did they come like this, or has it been refinished? A friend is the original owner. He bought it and never fired it. His health is failing and he can't remember if he had the stock refinished or not.

Thanks from Old Sarge, Wasted ammo and BadGnus
