Cool piece of history, I wish he would have shot it at a target instead of just blasting away.

Nice! I still prefer the M14. But that is cool. Wish I had one.

Man! That is a rifle I could fall in love with! Chamber it for 7.62x51 with a 20 round magazine and I'm an instant owner!

Maybe make it so it can take the National Match rear sight off the M1/M14/M1A and M1A/M14 mags. Or even AK-47 mags in 7.62x51...Some existing mag that works well to cut down on development costs. Mags are always a pain.

I think CZ should tool up for this. It would be the flagship for their entire lineup. About the only thing that CZ doesn't make is a battle rifle...well here it is. And it's theirs! They already made it!

From all I have read, it could be chambered for the 7.62x51, 7.62x39 and the 5.56x45....also...maybe even a new cartridge based on their original 7.62x45...same base diameter as the 7.62x39 but the length of the 5.56x45, a cartridge that has more case capacity than both.

If that thing was in 308 and used a readily available mag, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Was always curious about this rifle after first seeing a picture of it in 'Small Arms of the World' many years ago. Would really love to have one!

Thanks from MrM1A

The ZK-420S looks to take down far easier and have a very much better op-rod arrangement than the M1/M14 as well.

Ian says that the only fault with this rifle was that it was "too high quality". Man, you don't hear that as much of a criticism anymore.

Imagine this rifle in 7.62x51. The receiver could be shortened up like was done when they moved from the M1 30-06 length to the 308. The rifle would be even handier.

What a wonderful rifle not to have been made...*sigh*.

Nice design. But it suffered from very stiff competition namely SKS, SAFN 1949, MAS49, and M1 Garand. Then factor in that Russia made Czechoslovakia a puppet state in Feb. 1948. It never had a chance.

It's true. It never had a chance but it seems to me that it was the last of the true battle riffles. No stamped parts, all milled and forged, beautifully made, full power cartridges. And when you compare it to the M14, FN49, the Jungman or anything else in this class. It looks like the ZK-420S was the best of them all. It is such a pity that circumstances made it an orphan. I can only dream about what a sweetheart it would have been in 7.62x51.

Thanks from RDS and MrM1A

Imagine it in .308 or one of the 7mm or 6mm

One magazine in the weapon 2on a belt and the rest of the ammo in stripper clips.

Light weight

Please make one reasonable priced, with CNBC machining it might be doable!

Thanks from MrM1A
