If they need effective RIFLE fire out to 800-1,000 yards they better start asking BULA and LRB to ramp up production because they sure got the wrong rifle now
Well, it all boils down to what one considers long range. Mk 12's with Mk 262 ammo can consistently hit an E type target at 800m. M4A1's with Mk 262 ammo can pretty consistently hit E type targets out to 700m. The Mk 262 ammo has exhibited improved terminal ballistics when compared to the M855 ammo. If you need to go beyond 700m, a 7.62 NATO rifle is in order.
