The M14 platform is not the AR platform where they like to chamber it for every round under the sun. Maybe that is why it is a constant, reliable BMF!

Like Dr. Ian Malcolm taught me: just because you can do a thing, doesn't mean you SHOULD do a thing.

I like my sks for blasting crap in the yard with 7.62x39. Whole gun costs about half as much as a receiver.

Nothing wrong with the caliber at all. It would be blasphemous to chamber a m14 in it!

if we could shrink the weight/size down proportionately,it might be ok. as it sits,it's too big, heavy and expensive

You could scale down the receiver, barrel, stock, etc., etc., but that's already been done by MR. Bill Ruger and Company. For my tastes the Mini 14 in the 7.62x39 makes more sense to me than the platform in 223 for super accuracy is not one of the rifles biggest assets anyway nor is the caliber itself, but have to admit it will get the job done within it's limitations.

I have only shot 1 mini 30 and it wasn't that reliable with steel case ammo.

Wouldn't mind having an SKS to shoot 7.62 x 39. For some reason they appeal to me more than AKs.

My mini 30 has never given any issues with steel cased ammo. Just don't expect it to shoot anything better than MOS, minute of softball without work.
