I know that some people would say you can only use one at a time - but that people is NOT me - you can never have too many.

As for me I don't think I will ever thin my heard down.

As for Magazines:
I know that I acquire M14 parts when I can, and how I can. I picked up 34 + magazines in the last year. One lot of 20 CMI's, and one lot of 14 mixed USGI's plus some single mag pickups. I will buy another 20 or so by the end of the month at the NRA show. That should put me past the 250 mark for M14 magazines, and is no where close to the 400+ AR mags that I have.

Just build it! You'll waste a lot of time finding all the SA parts.

Thicken the herd!

Talking SA ALL THE WAY !!!!!

Sarge, I'd do the SA heel job and go all SA.
Everytime you pull that beauty out of your safe you look at the receiver and have a big ole crap eatin grin on your mug seeing Springfield Armory M14 on it.

One poster said you would waste time on finding the correct parts, my take is that you have a nice collection of M14s, sooooooooooooo why not have as close to a "real/perfect" same mfg. rifle to complete the collection or at least make it "better"?

I know one day when I have the means thats what I'm gonna do, kind of a bucket list item if you will.

Just sayin............

Well, I met up again with this buddy of mine. He had a USGI SA bolt, trigger group, and op rod. The op rod has a little finish wear, but the tab is strong and square, no rounded corners, so it is in near mint condition except for the bit of finish wear. Bolt and trigger group are excellent !!! All CMP parts from way back when, and now they are mine.

When I talked to him on the phone, I gave him the price range that these parts are selling for, and his price range he gave me was the same as mine on the high end. My low end prices were $25 lower than his. I did tell him that by the description he gave me, his parts are definitely on the upper end of the price range. I ended up giving him $50 more than his high end asking price total for all 3 parts. He was pretty happy about that.

I believe he said he has a bunch of Winchester parts, so if anyone is interested in them, I can ask him if he is looking to sell them. Let me know and I will contact him.

Thanks from Pvt. Joker

Sarge, I'm super happy for you! Glad you got the SA parts for a correct build.
When you have more than a couple these correct builds become special to the owner.

congrats on your nice SA parts score. NOS or excellent used condition SA parts are not very easy to locate anymore. I am still hunting for an early "type 1" SA oprod in new, like new, or excellent used condition.

Does your bud have any winny m14 barrels?

I'll try to call him today and see what he has for Winchester parts.

8 M14's......I'm envious.

I'd be afraid to own 8 M14's. Not because of theft, not because of the money spent. I'd get tired of wiping the dried blood off the butt plates when I woke up.

From where you ask ?

From my wife practicing the butt stroke move on my head with one of them there rifles.

Thanks from Old Sarge

Springfield are the hardest USGI barrels to come by, lest amount produced.
I would go all Springfield including an earlier SAI receiver if attainable.
This is the route I'm presently taking, just short on the receiver.
Just my 2 cents.
