Scope level question

When leveling the receiver for horizontal level for a scope, where on the receiver do you place the level? I'm using the flat area below the rear sight. Is this correct?

If you are talking about a M-14 / M-1A then that would be the correct location.

After you have leveled the rifle hang a plumb bob where it can be seen through the scope and align the vertical crosshair so that it is parallel with the string of the plumb bob, tighten the rings and you'll be GTG.

Rich

Level the rifle. Attach mounts and rings, install scope somewhat snugly. Remove elevation cap and place level across the adjusting screw. Adjust to level and tighten. Recheck level.

+ 1 , This is the way I leveled mine . I then attached a scope level to the scope tube.
