Do you have a picture to explain what you're seeing?

He is referring to the stamp on the bolt, and he is correct it does not look right to me. He's referencing GunBroker item#630189707.

That is odd. Never seen a stamp depression around what is supposed to be the roll mark on any bolt ever. Bolt face,,, hard to tell is those are just milling marks or IF from a hi pressure proof round.. Kinda resembles the hi pressure proof test, but???? Strange.
I'll have to check Lees book, but seem to remember something about some Chinese trigger groups with the TRW mark,,, but IIRC they were upside down or something like that????

I wouldnt know the first thing about identifying a fake bolt. I looked at the listing, and several others, the bolt looked good to me. Better than a couple others listed. How would someone looking to buy a TRW bolt identify a fake?

Counterfeit parts, what will be next? I just hope they don't try to sell them here.

A few Pics

Here are a few pics from the listing - like stated above I have not seen a top stamp with a clear impression like this one - but the rest of the pics looks pretty good.......

I stare at M14 parts like some men stare at naked women. I know what the good ones look like, just like the hot girls in the pictures and these ant them.

I have seen this stamp before and always steered clear. The bolt face looks slightly pitted to me as well.

To my untrained eye the area around the numbers looks just like the area around a set of "cast in" numbers.

I agree - I would not buy it myself - just thought I would show the pics so you don't have to jump over to GunBroker.

It was interesting to me that most folks take bad pics of the parts when they are fake or just one angle - the pics are top quality and show every angle and detail. I don't use USGI bolts now unless I am building a matching parts type rifle - I can get brand new production bolts (BULA) as an example at much lower cost and that are top quality and I know are real.

Ren - I may need to set you up with a fine southern woman so you don't have to stare at your computer so much :) - but if I am in doubt about a M14 part I always PM Ren!

Hmm... tornado tech is a reputable company. And they are right around the corner from me. I wonder how they got these. Other than the roll mark, I wouldn't be able to tell if it's a fake.

Tony.
