First Trip To The Range
Took my new rifle to an indoor range to sight it in and get some trigger time. I went in with some PMC Bronze, Fiocchi, and some Federal 7.62x51 XM80. They all passed the magnet test from the RO which was good. Started out with the PMC Bronze to sight it in. The sight in process was so easy it didn't take long at all. The PMC shot decent but nothing special. I went on to the Fiocchi 150 grain. I was starting to think I was not that good of a shot when I pushed the target back to the 46 yard maximum. I then went to the Federal 7.62x51 XM80 and pulled the target back to 25 yards. The results with this ammo was a great improvement. Pushed it back to 46 yards and still had some decent groups. Still getting used to sights and I think shooting outdoors or at least at a range that is not lit like a dungeon would make it easier.
I did have one FTF with the Fiocchi. I may have rode the oprod when I chambered the round since it was the first round in the mag. The round didn't even eject when I pulled back on the oprod. I also noticed the bolt did not fully lock when it chambered the round. There was not a mark on the primer either so I tired it again and it fired fine. Not sure what caused it.
The first picture was my XM80C at 25 yards. The second was XM80C at 46 yards.
The M-14 is a fun platform to shoot.
