KMT mag with a hole in it?

I have a mag with a 1/4" hole half way up the right side. Was this done for a reason, and if so was it a good one?

Awards Showcase

That looks like a recent hole. Any "patina" on the edges, like the rest of the mag?

Is it drilled or punched. About 25yrs ago Israel release a large amount of M14 mags that they demilled by punching a whole in one side. The demilled mags were converted to 10 round and 5 round mags depending were the mag was punched.

Looks like someone was experimenting with trying to bracket a couple of mags together ,or maybe making round count holes and after 1 decided it was too much work heck with my mind I could go on and on and still wouldn't get it right.
