I decided to take a few guns out today and was most excited about shooting my M1A, also took along a P239 .40 and CNC galil
Enough small talk!
The M1A ran great and I thought I would share my thoughts on the differences I've noticed with my STG 58 FAL
1. I notice the FAL is a much softer shooter at least to me. Of course FAL= rubber butt pad
2. The M1A action = some confidence / sounds awesome with noise canceling muff!
3. Both are equally accurate my stg has a low round ct. Steyr barrel but they seemed on par out to 100 yards...beyond that?
4. Both guns seem balanced equally with the FAL a little more nose heavy
But I find the FAL easier to handle/manipulate and get back on target
Also magazine changes go to the FAL without question.
I like the irons on the M1A better and the wood just feels better...
That FIRST black rifle just feels cold.
I think the FAL is over engineered from the front sight to the gas system/reg sleeve and breechblock rat tail/ stock buffer crap. Special tool needing
Spring to the eye
I'm glad I got rid of my STG and haven't looked back.
I don't think the FAL is bad and I believe the STG to be on of the best examples as well as imbel. But even the best require the "FAL POGO"
I hope to ad another m1A or maybe a Fulton or LRB down the road but Will enjoy this rifle for hopefully years.
