Mogadishu Issue

This painted GI fiberglas stock wandered in to the shop last year and was named the "Mogadishu Issue" by one of the smart asses that works there.

It was unpopular, so I got it for free...

Anyhow, I tried it out with Miss Devine and she seems to like the color scheme...we had a good day banging steel last Sunday, here in Wonderland.
She shoots better in this stock than she did in the GI wood---after a little fitting, that is.
Let's hear it for the Multitool!

(I love the way this rifle holds the 200 yard steel when she gets hot.)

I was also there Apr.93-Sep.93. We were a detachment from 5/101 Avn Regt 101st Airborne Division (Team Phoenix) assigned to 10th Mtn in Mogadishu. I was a 11B(Infantryman) assigned as a door gunner.

I was only there for about two months Dec 92- Feb 93. We came in with the "Fly In" detachment about a week after the Amphibious landings. For a SHORT period of time we were JTF HQ and were "down graded" to MARFORCOM when enough folks from all the services filled up the JTF. A few folks from Division Staff remained as Advisors, but most of us came back to run 1st Mar Div in Feb. I set up and ran the Foreign Weapons Collection and Destruction Point until we turned it over to the Army. So if you guys dropped off captured weapons at the Ammo Supply Point during that time, you probably saw my ugly mug.

Oh as to the stock color, doesn't look like Chocolate Chip or Caramel Colored color schemes usually found there.

Chuckle. I don't know nickname the other services used for the two types of Desert Camoulage Patterns, but we called the older style "Chocolate Chip" and the newer style "Caramel" that had the larger wavy patterns without all the small black splotches.

We flew in too during that same exact time frame, on a flying tiger charter flight. Then we relieved 3/9 at the embassy.
