| Finally an M1a Owner
Hi all,
After a long wait for my New Jersey firearms ID card. I was finally able to purchase my M1A.
This whole process was a fight the entire way, after getting my FID card none of the stores had M1a's in stock nor did they know when they could get them :S. As a last resort i tried a small gun store on the way home from work, Boom they had 3 !!
I ended up going with a Springfield Armory Standard with a black synthetic stock. I shot it the same day. What a blast.
Hope to learn alot here, more specifically what ammo to feed this thing !
Pictures When i get the chance.. Thanks everyone

Congrats!
Be patient and enjoy the ride... it's addictive.
The more extra parts you collect, it's more likely a 2nd rifle will be born. |

Congrats on getting your M1A! Geez, even CA doesn't have that card (yet) for rifles, sorry to hear it was such a fight but at least you have it now.

Congratulations on your buy. Get some CMI mags and start reloading. 30cal is an expensive addiction, but worth it.

Welcome fellow NJ captive! Your goin to learn a lot around here. Its an addiction for sure.
Wait till you decide you want a pistol.... The permit process is such a head ace. I apply for 3 permits at once, just in case so I dont have to go through the whole process repeatedly.

Welcome! Yea i dont know why jersey has that stupid id card crap. Im stationed here but ive bought all my weapons in either maine or pennsylvania! Heard its a headache to get the card. Mine likes federals 168 gr otm made for m1a, its usually cheap 15 dollars a box, but right now it seems to be all sold out. And buy ammo online, all of the jersey gun shops i have been to rip people off with high prices. Online is the way to go!

Congats and welcome as well. Like magmafia said, you'll want to start reloading if you shoot very much. Federal brass holds up better than Winchester, so buy that and save it up. Watch craigslist for used reloading equipment or Christmas deals on new stuff (Midway USA). Enjoy.

As a noob I wanted to say welcome to the family! I just got my Scout and felt the need to warn you about something. If your rifle is anything like mine, she will be a hungry mistress that needs to be fed often. A lot. Allllll the time!!!!
Again welcome. These guys here know their stuff!!!! |
