I just bought an M14 E2 stock at a local shop. I saw it in the shop before but when I asked about it I was told it wasn't for sale. I went in today looking for a 1911 and talked to the owner, he saw my medic shirt, and he sold it to me. It's missing the metal buttstock though. Any idea where I can find one?
Any parts for the -E2 stock are almost impossible to find and if you're lucky enough to find any you're going to pay beau-coup bucks for them. That's why I just modified my bare -E2 stock (wood only, no metal) to my needs and gave up on finding the necessary parts to bring it up to GI specs.
I've gotten funny looks from "purists" but it works for me and shoots well.
You didn't find that stock in a little gun store in Springlake did you? next to the Subway? If so 3 weeks ago I coveted that stock and was told it was the owners and not for sale, either way good score
Sorry Gman, thats the place. I was looking for a 1911 and the owner happened to be there and saw my socm shirt. I told him I like to look at his stock when I'm in there and he told me to buy it. It has a scratch on the side but looks nice and almost looks to have a little striping on it.
I remember the first time I saw it, I asked about it because it was the first one I ever saw and was told it was just for show. He said he only sold it because it had the pad on the back instead of the original part. He seemed like a decent guy. We talked a little about guns and said he would help my build my parts kit. Depending on how long I'm here, I'd take him up on it.
They were pretty cool in there. Like I said, the owner told me he'd help me build my rifle. At first I was like, well I want to do it just because, and he was replied that I would be the one doing the work. He'd just help me out with tools and know how.
We should meet up and go shooting one of these weeks. PM me if you're interested.
As for the missing part, I'd place a post in the want to buy section, and do an internet search and hit up all the M14 parts dealers you can. It is going to be tough to find that piece.
I dropped my Scout into my M14E2 stock this weekend and took it shooting. I also added a trigger shoe. Although, to be honest I didn't shoot it with out the shoe so I can't comment on the difference it made. I was punching holes in a piece of scrap steel my brother turned into a target for me at 350m. This stock is a lot of fun.
Just a word of caution when using the E2 stock. The front foregrip can break under recoil the longer E2 sling was used like a shockabsorber so be carefull when its fully extended its not like the AR/15 foregrips used now. I believe it was mentioned in the old GI comic booklets from back in the day.
Nice stock, I know that Corpmen and Medic's have superpowers but how do you defy gravity like that or is that your superpower? standing sideways like that and not slipping off? I'm stuck on stupid and just can't figure it out.
i just got my nos e2 stock from gunnys surplus. am expecting a repro buttpad with metal bracket but no plate. no front grip too, but am contented just with a bipod on. the stock needs fitting on the trigger group, it does not completely close. at least you have a front hand grip with the stock.congrats!
