M1A Scout Squad real world testing video 23min(Nutnfancy)

Thought you all might like this, it was just posted yesterday. I dont know how many of you know who "nutnfancy" is, he's a gear reviewer on youtube. Probably the best one actually. Here is a shooting vid he did while testing the M1A Scout as a SAPR(semi auto precision rifle). He'll probably do a table top review later to give his assesment of the rifle as a whole. Toward the end is where it gets good. He has 5 shots at 575 yards, sitting on uneven rocky terrain using shooting sticks and connects 4 of 5 i think with a stock scout model, using a spinger mount, and radway green milsurp ammo(circa early 80's i believe). Not too shabby...I mean really....almost 600 yards with shooting sticks...surplus ammo....rocks in your ass...

I really didnt think the scout squad was capable of that....I wanted a full size of some sort for my first M1A, but now i'm reconsidering..

He tested a socom16 years ago, you can do a search for it, but he didnt do the long ranges he does with the scout.

Thanks from ryoung and sixplus1

The Scout size is my favorite. I have two and they are my most shot M14's. Perfect bbl length for milsurp and a handy configuration for getting in and out of vehicles. On one of the scouts I'm running a Choate folder with a Burris 2.75 LER scope.

I liked the video with good camera angles and great shots but the music sucks! Ha!ha! Good shooting, that looks like some beautiful country. I'd love to be there and give it a try with my scout and SuperMatch.

I try to watch his vids but I always fall asleep. He could use a good editor.
I am jealous of his subscribers/views, though.

I've been following his videos for about three years.
The guy is the real deal, he was an Air Force pilot, and served his
20 years. His father was a figher pilot in VN.
He started out in high school and college ROTC and went from there.

Some say he has a big ego and he talks too much, and he does go on about
his stuff at times. He has put out videos of himself, in the pilots seat,
piloting aricraft tankers, and other fighter aircraft.

All the equipment in his videos is being tested, and used for his evaluations
that make up his videos. He usually has videos on the in-field
performance of individual items like vests, pouches, clothing, etc. Of course,
there are lots of gun videos, and knives, camping, and survival equipment.
Some of it seems weekend worrior-ish but some good info comes from it all.

He also has definitive opinions about Rule Without Law scenarios and
about being prepared for when the time comes, and I believe that is where his
initial motivation came from for doing equipment evaluations.

I find his videos entertaining and typically informative. He does say
it "like it is" for the most part as well. He does present information
that the viewer can use to help makde decisions about whether to buy
a particular item or not. I've done so basd on his videos.

all i know is that after 8 years of wearing all that crap you wont see me in it unless im camping or hunting or playing paintball. even then i dont wear my vest carrier or load bearing vest. wont catch me in it. it draws too much attention. especially when youre carrying a military style rifle and a pistol while toating a rifle pack/drag bag...

I don't care if he wears a mini skirt and heels, he has some good reviews.... Yeah, he talks a lot, but he's one of those Type A personalities.... From what I've seen, he's not a chairborne commando, he goes out and pushes his limits.

He retired as a Lt. Colonel if I'm not mistaken. The reason he wears all that gear is because he is not just testing the guns. The trip/outing he was on in the video was to test all the gear he had on him, everything from the packs they were carrying, to the other rifles the two other guys were carrying. In the coming days, he'll release footage of the guns the other guys used, the packs they used, the molle gear, holsters, knives, etc.....Basically he takes a bunch of stuff out with him on his trips, videos it all, then cuts up the video later to give a review on each piece of gear he brought with.

I just thought you'd guys get a kick out of seeing a scout squad connect at over 500 yards somwhere outside a shooting range....

I havent seen any guys on this board drag steel targets out to the middle of fricking nowhere and camp out for three days just to see if the M1A is as accurate in the real world as it is claimed to be on the internet.
