...if the bradly was.taller I'd.go.with that model...

...Im thinkin I need more like 2" of lift...bradly explained that his rest provides 1 3/8" lift...

...bradly is very cool to deal with...but methinks I'll be ordering cyote rest too...

I cut the bottom off one of the old style plastic ar-15 cheek rests, rounded the edges with my dremel tool and it slides right on to my stock. Secured it with a small flat head screw. Works great, very stable and doesn't look half bad.

Hey Guys, might be a stupid question but how does one go about measuring or figuring out what height will work the best for his M1A? I have a 1987 Super Match that I usually use iron sights on, but when I work on load development I like to use a scope.

Thanks Pete

If you mount your scope low enough you dont need one

I have my leupold mounted pretty low, but I still cant help but feel like a rest might be nice. Considering the TNVC Mod 0. Easy on, easy off.

I agree completely. I have a leather one stamped 'US' that I think actually belongs on a Garand and it doesn't give that much rise, but it does its job.

I also have some no-name brand with a pouch and cartridge loops. Probably came from WalMart or something knowing my FIL. It has straps and a neoprene patch on the comb, so again not a lot of rise, but effective. I switch it around from my 30-30 and scout.

Until folks started asking, I had no idea there was such a variety out there.

Get the lowest commercial mount : ARMS 18 ( my mount build by the USMC MRT is even lower) then put a pair of Leupold Lever QD low rings and you won't need a cheek rest with a standard M14 stock . Using a mount that is in the stratosphere it is so high with an eleventy x quadrillion scope with an 80 mm bell ( i think Jeff Cooper used the term " Fine for photographing the moon") and all you need is a pillow strapped on your stock . I use a low mounted low power scope and my M14 points like my grouse gun ..... But can still cut you in half at 600 meters . Read a little Jeff Cooper and learn a little about scope mounting on a rifle .
