I have been shooting AR-15 rifles for a while now and have always wanted an M1A. I finally got an M1A Loaded walnut the other day and noticed two disturbing things. One, the crown appears very rough and has deep machining marks and must be at about 90 degrees, and two the barrel itself seems to have burrs and or deep machining marks in the last few inches of it. I haven;t shot the rifle yet but I will be shooting it today. Has anyone here ever seen anything like this? Is this the kind of quality that I can expect from Springfield?

I might be able to get a good picture of the crown but probably not of the inside of the barrel. I;ll try later today.

Are you talking about the barrel or the flash suppressor?
