Hopco mount with Trijicon RMR on Tanker

There is an ongoing thread on the Modern forum about this mount, but I thought I'd mention it here since my tanker isn't EBR. I wanted optics on my tanker and first thought about an ACOG, but realized it is the wrong setup for this rifle. I found a thread with a mounted Accupoint 1X4 on an Arms 18. Liked that until this Hopco mount came out. I used a Cheek-N-Stock with the Accupoint, but it is not necessary with the RMR.

It's very well made and comes with excellent instructions and mounting was no issue whatsoever. I went with the Trijicon RMR and this is the setup I wanted for this rifle all along. It just took awhile for someone to invent the right parts.

There is some concern on the other forum over lack of iron sights, but I got the adjustable RMR with the on/off switch and plan on changing out the battery every year like I do with the smoke detectors. I can also carry a spare battery in the stock. I'll try it next time at the range, but I see no reason I can't shoot center of mass at 100 yards using the aperture as a halo sight. The battery is a non issue with me.

Interesting, have not seen this before. It's only slightly more expensive than the EoTech I have picked out. I would forward-mount it for both retention of irons and faster acquisition, but that's me.

I didn't read anything about waterproofing or even water resistance though... the EoTech I want is waterproof to 33ft, I wanted at least 5-10 ft (you never know). Do you know anything about how the RMR handles water?

someone correct me if I'm wrong but:
the RMR is gonna be WAY TOUGHER than an eotech.

I'm liking this type of setup, it's slick, tiny, and should be pretty strong. Let us know how it handles over time.

The passive RMR shouldn't be bothered by water, at all. It uses tritium and fiber optics for illumination. But Trijicon lists the water resistance as 20 meters (66ft) for all RMR models.

That's awesome. I love the tiny design and low-profile, I think this is my new top choice. I'd probably paint it though, I like to replace black with flat earth tones

the pix is not a M1 "tanker"....it's a M1a/M14 something... which then mounting an Eotech would be on the forward scout rail...too tall to co-witness..not sure if an Ultimak would be low enough for the EoTech.....I believe it is low enough for the T1.

Sorry, can't answer that one......someone else can do the drop test....besides, when's the last time you dropped your baby on its optic.
I might add that the lighter the rifle, the less possible damage would occur...one of our side projects is to put together a light weight socom. We had it down to 7 lbs 12 oz...then I added a Sadlak guide rod, mag release and bolt release and it's back up to 7 lbs 14.5 oz....

Not sure if you're talking about my pic in the original post. I did not say it was an M1 anything. I called it a tanker because it's an LRB build and that's how they market their 18.5 inch M14. I didn't stipulate rifle because this is the M14 forum.

cool...I have a garand "tanker" which depending of who is talking, didn't officially exist but the name stuck...didn't know LRB calls their build a tanker. When I saw tanker, I assumed it was a M1 until I saw the stripper clip guide.

The RM06 has a rubber o ring around the perimeter of the bottom of the sight and should provide some measure of prevention of water intrusion.
