Had a Korean War memorial match at my range this weekend. Weather for practice was nice on Friday, for Feb. anyway. Windy all the time here so this place will teach you how to read the wind for sure. Saturday was 50mph and we only completed the short line before we had to stop the rest of the match as we lost three target stands were ripped off their frames so in the interest of safety we had to stop. So today weather was still windy at 20mph but by afternoon just as soon as my relay got done shooting and headed to the pits the wind died to nothing. That never happens here. Anyway I sucked bad and had a helluva time just trying to get my sh*t together and setup let alone try to shoot some semblance of a score. I am trying really hard to be orginized and try to be smooth at setup so I have time to prep and get in good position. I know that will come with experience but that was the most frustrating thing for me. Good part was that by the time we got to the 600 line I was actually starting to feel more comfortable and I scored with every shot and my last 10 shot string was an 87. That will have to be where I start to build from and hopefully improve with each match. The most positive thing was that my M14 worked flawlessly with no hiccup and when I was on, so very briefly, it was on as well. I've gotten better at calling my shots too. I am starting to know immediately I made a crappy shot so I guess that was positive as well.
