I really miss having an hk style front sight on my m14 and am going to get one of the hk style gas lock front sights, but i wanted to find out if anyone had removed the top 1/3rd - ish of the sight so it's like the troy ind sights - I'm planning on putting an aimpoint micro on - so the fully enclosed sight may interfere. And I just prefer to have the top of the sight open.

So has anyone done this or have advice as to how to go about modifying it?
