Optic mounting options

I'm trying to decide on the *best* way to mount my Trijicon TR21 to my SAI Scout rifle and need some feedback.

Option 1 is to use the barrel mounted rail that comes with the rifle. The up side to this is that I already have it, but I've heard of issues with it moving with barrel heat, etc.

Option 2 is a receiver mounted rail (Sadlak, Smith, ARMS, etc.) Would this be more stable and reliable or am I splitting hairs?

Either way, I'll need a mount of some sort to offset the optice either forward or back. Larue's SPR-E is supposed to work for the Scout mount. I've emailed them asking the same question, but have yet to hear back. Any experience, pictures or opinions would be appreciated!

Thank you!!

Option 2. Unless you do something really funky & unstable, it will not be possible to achieve proper eye relief if you mount the Accupoint on the scout rail.

That's what I was leaning towards too. I didn't really want a "diving board" hanging back off the Scout mount to correctly position the scope.

I'm leaning towards the Sadlak Airborne mount, but is there a better-fitting/working option for the Springfield receivers?

The Sadlak mounts are a very fine piece of equipment. Just because you have a SAI receiver, it does not mean that it won't fit. It may or may not.

In any case, Sadlak will custom fit it to your receiver for a minimal cost.

I have a 2001 SAI receivered rifle and the only one that fit it correctly was an un-altered Sadlak.

I live locally to Smith Enterprise & went with theirs ... Andy Horton is awesome to deal with. It's rock solid & has never shifted or loosened up.

Whichever one you go with, make sure it has the built-in channel that allows you to use iron sights without a scope.
