This is a discussion on M1A Springfield Armory . within the The M14 forums, part of the M14 M1A Forum category; I purchased an M1A, Springfield Armory Inc.
Why does it have an H&R trigger group ? I thought it would be a parts correct rifle ...
Is that a new rifle? Springfield Armory has always used GI parts when they are available. Having an H&R trigger group is a good thing. I have a pre ban Springfield that has all TRW parts, except the barrel.
Yes ! It was bought new in Ohio several yrs ago , only two mags through it. Shortly after the purchase of the M1A, I got into the Garand where I learned a great deal in the forums . So, it was a safe queen for a short time. My son & I was going through the safe not long ago, I pulled it out, torn it down and was surprised to find the H&R trigger gp. I just thought since the M1A from Springfield Armory Inc. should be all correct. I paid a great deal for it new and I guess I expected a parts correct M1A.
Welcome and dont be mad about that be happy having a H&R trigger group is good. The GI trigger groups like yours are far supperior to the new ones that SA Inc. make. I was luck and got a H&R trigger group as well as a TRW bolt, so be glad you have what you have.
Your Springfield Armory M1A is manufactured by Springfield Armory Inc. NO relationship to the original military armory in Springfield Mass. It is a commercial company. They did sell M1As with mostly GI parts as long as the supply held up.The supply of GI parts is drying up and now they put cast junk in. So,as said above,,having an H&R TG,,that's a good thing.
when i got my first SAI m1A i took it to my shop where my buddy is a M1A fan and he broke it down to show me how to take apart and clean etc. he was like "dude! this thing is almost all GI !" dont sell it. ive been happy with it since. my next M1A rifle wasnt GI and i have been gradually finding G! parts. my 3rd M1A socom is not GI
ive been acquiring more guns lately not focused on GI parts
