| Treeline TRW parts kit which receiver?
Ok I got a Treeline TRW parts kit. I want to build it as traditional as possible with the wooden GI stock. I am going to add a Sparrowhawk dummy kit. Looking for a receiver I'm not really crazy about a cast one. So that leaves LRB, Smith, and 7.62mm. I will scope it later on. I know LRB makes the M25, but that would be getting away from the traditional specs. I have also looked at demilled and reweld TRW receivers, but as temping as they are I know to stay clear! So, with that being said, I would greatly appreciate any input and personal experience you may have to share. Thanks, Jerry

Yeah that's why I'm going to stay clear of anything like that.

You can do reweld but its not worth the time and trouble. Mu buddy did it for an MG-42 so lots of work to make it semi and deal with local ATF.
For m14 new is better since it hasn't been cut. The price is way affordable.
Believe me the work it took to get a receiver true is a huge challenge. We did it on the MG for a learning experience but ended up with a heat treat oven and tig welder plus a tapped bank account!

Go with the LRB standard rec., they are forged and flawless. I have an all TRW gun built on the M25 and never once
had a problem. Let them put it all together then just enjoy it!

I like LRB, I have 3 and as far as quality tier 1 hands down. I know it takes time for them to get to you on the list but it's worth it no doubt. I heard the 762 receivers are looking decent lately but SEI is the sheet period. They're all $100 or so apart in price so there you go...JMHO
Oh all 3 LRBs spec out perfect and are worry free from the getgo...
Good luck

I would get a 7.62 rec they mark them like trw did. I had 7.62 build my TRW kit and it is a tack driver!!!

no arrogance
and no junk

The pictures on their website are better than any picture I can take. http://www.lrbarms.com/m14receivers.html
just send them your parts and a stunning complete rifle will return to you. I am partial to the vented hand guards.

The LRB costs more than the 7.62MM. Most people here will say to go with LRB.
Sometimes their lead times are considerably longer than 7.62's. Either way, you'll get a great build.

LRB _ I have six of them including the 4th protype and the 4th production - matching serial numbers.
I also have four of the ones produced in the last couple of years. That are perfect.

Actually, the LRB lead times are not that long. I have done business with them prior to the last order so they already had FFL on file. I communicated with them a few days prior via phone. My records show I mailed them a check for a barreled receiver, with their headspaced bolt and some other work I had them do, on 1-23-2012 and I picked up the package from the local FFL on Monday. By 10:45 pm on Monday evening, the project was finished. I have an extensive collection of parts, books, tools and prior assembly experience but it still took two beers, a double Jack Black and water and almost three hours to slap that puppy together. I got a rifle with the National Match barrel and some machining had to be done on the op rod guide that fits over the barrel boss (the interior dimensions of the op rod guide had to be increased with a chainsaw file and polished up with a Dremel tool). Their receiver cutout that mates with the op rod lug seemed to have closer tolerances than the last build (maybe the lug on the op rod I used in the prior build was more worn). Anyway, I devised a means to mate the two via an Irwin vice and slightly tapped the covered bolt handle with a leather mallet and it popped right in. (Your results may vary and I will not be held liable if you crack a receiver or ruin an op rod guide!) Other than that noted above, assembly was unremarkable - including gas cylinder shims, work on the handguard so it would not contact the stock, installation of a Sadlak op rod spring guide, etc... Prior post about letting LRB or another qualified smith with all the parts, books, tools and knowledge is highly recommended. I had access to no less than four op rods, four complete trigger groups and a plethora of other parts - I find assmbling a rifle is using the parts that act in concert the best. Damn fine rifle which will be taken for a test run this weekend. I don't know how to post pics, but if someone sends me an e-mail address, I'll send before and after shots. HTH

LRB definately. I ordered an M25 barreled action last week. It is on the way to my FFL now. Can't beat 6 or seven days. A couple of years ago, I waited 16 mos. for a full build.

Well maybe I should start looking at LBR M25 receivers. I know I would be getting away from the traditional build specs, but it seems to be the best route for scoping the M14 platform.
