Freds

Can anyone that actually did business with "Freds" please advise what appears on the credit card statement, aside from a dollar amount? (Is it "Fred's") or some other business name?

Thank you - it is important I know so I can keep an eye out for his eventual and remotely distant billing.

actually, I am considering having my CC block his account from billing me - otherwise I might consider changing the account. Not sure if I need his stock anymore been three months since I ordered...what else is news?

Fred's amazes me. What amazes me more is that people order from him knowing they might get ripped off.

No offense, but it sounds like you took a Fred's 50/50 gamble and lost.

Fred took so long sending me my stock last year I forgot I had ordered it until it showed up. He did throw in a couple of handguards for free. One vented and the other non vented. Both were in pretty rough shape but will look better when painted.

Thumbs up

It displays as "FREDS 3368792144 NC". I have done business with him four times and he has always delivered, although the first order was quite lengthy from order to delivery. The other orders were fairly timely, within a mopnth and a half, average.

Thank you very much.

I just don't need his stuff anymore.

Fred's has a disclaimer on the first page of the catalog that says not to order from him unless you are patient.

I have met Fred twice at Appleseed events and he appears to be as honest as anyone I have met. It seems his commitment to Appleseed trumps his business at times. It's his choice, and again, he does warn folks pretty well on his website.

I have read many a glowing post about Appleseed here, and Fred is the hub of that activity. You can't ride two horses, and it seems Fred is many times on the non-business horse riding around like Paul Revere.

I have ordered three times in the last two years, and got quick delivery twice and a month or so wait the other time.

Appearances can be deceiving...you should get out and meet more people...

Fred and horse in the same sentence......lol

Dig around and see how "Honest Fred" ran his old club out and the story behind that.

"Patient" would infer that the product would eventually show up which is not always the case. There have been several members here that have never gotten their orders. Personally I have gotten both of my orders, the first came months latter, the second came several months latter after I went through a lot of hassle to prove that I had been charged for it but it never shipped.

Personally I don't think "Fred's" is dishonest, I fully believe that they are totally unorganized and have piss poor management skills.

Thanks from CAVman

Fed 2010 order.

Ordered three stocks in Feb of 2010 and still waiting. Patience is not the answer luck of the draw is more like it. Even called and talk to a person to no avail. Went fiberglass instead.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from him years back and it always came on time without any problems. Sounds like he's been slacking..

I ordered an Excellent Big Red Birch and was delivered something different then what I ordered. I had read alot of bad things about peoples experiences with Fred but I gave it a shot. After realizing I did not get what I ordered I sent him an email and explained the situation. In the email I asked for someone to call me and discuss how to get what I ordered. After about an hour of sending the email Fred called me. I told him what happened, he told me to send the stock back, he would throw in some freebies to cover the shipping. I told him I did not want to wait for him to receive my stock first before sending me the replacement stock after waiting 3 weeks for the wrong stock. I initially told him that I would not have the chance to send the stock back till the end of the week ( this all happened on a Monday ). He agreed to send me my replacement right away and to email him also about it as a reminder. As it turned out I was able to ship the stock the same day we talked on the phone. After I received the tracking info later that day from the Ups store I forwarded it to Fred. The next day he forwarded me the tracking info on my replacement stock.

Would I order from him again.............Yes!
